Epilation is the removal of unwanted hair from the human body for aesthetic or cleanliness health care and other purposes. Bainan is used in many kinds as it has many methods of hair removal which provide difference results for different kinds of skins and hairs. Here’s a breakdown of the most common types of hair removal methods:

The Kinds of Hair Removal and a little information about each one

 1. Shaving
– About: A traditional form of epilation among women and men is shaving, it is one of the cheapest ways to remove hair. It entails shaving of hair using a knife, razor that glides over the surface of the skin shaving the hair.
– Benefits: Fast, easy, and may be done in the same comfort of ones home. Can be used on all parts of the body (legs, underarm, face and so on).
– Downsides: Hair re-grows fairly fast, most times within 1-2 days and causes razor burn, cuts or razor bumps.

 2. Waxing
– About: Waxing can be hot wax applied and spread on the skin and then covered by cloth strip which is ripped off to remove hair coupled with the skin.
– Benefits: A long duration of effectiveness of about 3- 6 weeks. Hair grows back a little softer and not as coarse as before all it takes is time. Appropriate for all parts of the body for example the legs, arms, back, even the eyebrows, or upper lip.
– Downsides: May cause discomfort: with some people more sensitive regions are used. May lead to irritation or ingrown hairs; it’s dangerous when done alone and should by referred to a barber.

 3. Sugaring
– About: As with Waxing, sugaring is a technique that involves use of a sugary paste and applying it on the skin surface and then sticking to the hair and pulling out when it hardens. The paste is also spread in the anti-direction of the hair and then washed off in the direction of the hair.
– Benefits: Safer than waxing because Glue hair only attaches itself to the hair but does not pull on the skin. Far less painful and considerably minimizes the chances of developing in grown hairs. Results last about 3-4 weeks.
– Downsides: Can sometimes sting and is not advisable for use by people with sensitive skin. This one needs to be practiced or better still left to be applied by a professional.

 4. Threading
– About: Threading is a technique in which a twisted cotton thread is used in pulling hair from the hair follicle. Most commonly it is applied on the face especially to model eyebrows and to remove hair on the upper lip.
– Benefits:particularly applies to eyebrows. Getting an easy on skin and the effects last between three to sixweeks. No chemicals are used.
– Downsides: Stinging especially when one has sensitive skin. It can only be efficiently applied by an experienced mud therapist.

 5. Laser Hair Removal
– About: Laser hair removal employs the light beams (lasers) that are directed towards dark color in the hair follicle and alleys the hair follicle thus reducing hair growth in the future.
– Benefits: A method for semi long-lasting to permanent hair elimination. Is ideal for two major parts of the body; large parts (legs, back, arms) and small parts (face, bikini area). After several sessions hair regrows thinner and finer.
– Downsides: Very costly and needs successive appointments. It’s not good for all skin types or hair colors but those with light skin and dark hair will benefit most from it. May lead to minor inflammation or erythema that is not dangerous, but can be unpleasant.

 6. Electrolysis
– About: Electrosurge includes making an opening using fine needle to each hair follicle after which electrical alternating current is passed through the opened to destruct it and thus no regrowth of hair.
– Benefits: Free from body hair after number of sessions. All skin types and colored hairs can be treated with the product.
– Downsides: Takes a lot of time to be effected since the hair follicles need to be treated one by one. May be tender or even painful and leads to erythema or swelling for some time. Requires multiple sessions.

 7. Depilatory Creams (Chemical Hair Removal)
– About: Depilatory creams also commonly referred to as hair removal creams, contain chemicals that dissolve the hair on the skin’s surface. The lotion is rubbed in, allowed to sit for some minutes and then washed out with the hair.
– Benefits: It is non invasive, time efficient, and convenient for home usage. It can be used for the legs, arms and any other body part to be treated.
– Downsides: The hair being coarse grows back within the shortest period as it was before shaving. They can be rather irritating to the skin but is even worse with sensitive skin. It is important that you should first apply patch test in order to minimize skin allergic reactions.

 8. Epilation
– About: an epilator is an electrical appliance whereby hair is pulled from the roots as opposed to waxing where hair is pulled off using a wax coated strip. The device grips several hairs at a time and removes them at once.
– Benefits: longer time efficacy of up to 4 weeks. Easy to use at home, and over time hair regrows much finer and less of it.
– Downsides: The initial experience may be painful, for people who are first-timers or if the area being treated is very sensitive. They may also cause ingrown hairs at the end of the hair.

 9. IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Hair Removal
– About: Like laser hair removal, IPL utilizes non-highly targeted light to eliminate the hair follicles. In contrast to lasers, which emit only one wavelength, IPL employs range of wavelengths.
– Benefits: Hair removal that lasts only for several months. Is used on different parts of a human body. It is more achievable now since there are IPL devices for home use.
– Downsides: Takes several sittings and effectiveness varies with the type of hair and skin. It is better suited for people with thick or course hair as it may not be effective on thin or blond hair as it stains said hair CCA: It causes skin redness or irritation only in the short run.

 10. Tweezing (Plucking)
– About: Tweezing as the name suggest pen, involve pulling out hair from its root using tweezers. That’s mostly used for small areas for instance the eyebrows or individual rustic hairs on the face.
– Benefits: Economical and good for moulding eyebrows or shaving off small area of hair. It is long lasting than results of shaving.
– Downsides: Takes a lot of time; sometimes it can cause a lot of pain to the individual involved. I also discovered that tweezing has the potential of making the hairs grow back in on the skin especially when used on large areas of the skin.

 11. Dermaplaning
– About: Dermaplaning is a process in which the skin with a sterile surgical scalpel is removed, thin layer of the dead skin cells as well as fine beard/ facial hair.
– Benefits: Can slough off the skin as it removes body hair resulting to a smooth face and fresh skin complexion. Perfect to prepare the skin for make-up.
– Downsides: Transitory, because after a week or two hair grows back again. Should be done by a professional since they are likely to cut themselves.

Things to Look for in Choosing Hair Removal Techniques
– Skin Sensitivity: Some ( like waxing or depilatory creams) can cause skin irritation or allergies of the skin, the kind of skin one has should thus be considered.
– Pain Tolerance: Some methods like waxing, epilation and electrolysis are bound to cause some level of pain during the process while methods such as shaving and creams don’t cause any level of pain.
– Cost and Time:Laser hair removal and electrolysis may cost a lot and take several sessions, waxing is cheap but requires repetition frequently.
– Hair Type: Techniques like laser hair removal should ideally be only done for people with dark hair, whereas electrolysis action is effective for all hair colors. It might be proper to recommend some other treatments to the finest hair like tweezing or threading, for example.
– Desired Longevity: And if you are thinking for a long term or lifelong you can go for Facial laser hair removal process or electrolysis. For temporary methods of hair removal, shaving, waxing or creams that remove hair should suffice.

All of the methods of depilation have both advantages and disadvantages, so first of all, it is necessary to decide which method is the most suitable for you, skin type and your life activity.
